Mojtaba Abdolmaleki
Ph.D. Student in Technology and Operations, Ross School of Business, University of Michigan
Ann Arbor, MI, USA
I am a second year Ph.D. student in T&O at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, where I am advised by Izak Duenyas and Roman Kapuscinski. I am also pursuing an M.S. in Statistics. Previously, I earned a Ph.D. in Transportation Systems Engineering and an M.Sc. in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan, and dual B.Sc. degrees in Mathematics and Civil Engineering from Sharif University of Technology.
My current research focuses on the design of dynamic contracts for agentic AI and innovation services. I study settings in which service value is uncertain, outcomes are delayed, progress is difficult to verify, and human agents may strategically communicate information through sandbagging, hype, or selective disclosure. My work asks how firms should structure payments, monitoring, and continuation decisions as information is gradually revealed. More broadly, my research centers on data-driven decision-making in operations management under uncertainty and operational barriers. These barriers include incentive problems in contracting, information constraints in privacy-preserving revenue management, and structural network complexities in transportation systems. Across these settings, I develop dynamic policies and mechanisms using tools from stochastic control, online learning, statistical inference, contract theory, and operations research.
My work has been recognized with honors such as IBM best student paper award finalist (2024) and the Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship (2022).
I am always excited to connect with scholars, students, and practitioners from all backgrounds who are passionate about topics that overlap with my research interests, including agentic AI, privacy-preserving decision-making, dynamic contracting, online learning, and operations under uncertainty. Please feel free to shoot me an email — hopefully we click and start working on a paper together.
Residency
I hold U.S. permanent residency (Green Card).
